The other Armstrong curse

It seems our family has a tendency to get animals with health problems. It started with Socrates, our Colorado cat. When we moved to Cincinnati in '98 he started having odd problems -- he couldn't walk. His legs would shake uncontrollably and when he'd try to move they'd give out from underneath him and he's just fall to the floor. We had him sent to Ohio State for research (where they found little "nodules" on his nerves). They thought it was a form of fenine Lou Gehrigs disease. Years later he can walk and run and jump - though has lasting nerve damage.
Then we major health problem with Athena about 4 years ago (she and her sister were the first pets we own right after we got married, some 10 years ago). W used to think she was having petite mal seizures until the vet informed us that she was "pushing" cots through her system, because she had a generative heart disease. She died at about 8 years old.
After Athena died we got Midnight. A kitten for Abigail. Abigail loved Midnight, but Midnight had F.I.P., the feline version of AIDS. She slowly starved to death (because her little body wouldn't digest food) and it was heart breaking (another death for a 4 year old to process)
Chloe (Athena's surviving sister) has eye problems -- you'll never see a cat with larger eyes and pupils. You would think she's completely blind, but she appears fine. Her big issue is vomitting. She pukes all the time. Supposedly its a heart murmur.
Oliver; well, he's ok - except for his wool fetish. He devours anything with wool Annoying habit. But he's healthy.
And now Sirius. He's been lethargic for the past 2 days. And last night was up with vomitting and diarrhea. He won't even get up for a car ride or wag his tail in excitment (not normal for a puppy). Sonya is at the animal hospital right now. We're afraid it might be Parvo (a supposedly uncurable, through treatable disease).
So, it seems we don't have the best "luck" with pets. Or perhaps we're meant to care for them the best we can for their seemingly troubles lives. Either way, its not an especially happy place in our house today.
