Quantum Leap

As Paul already mentioned in so many words, we made that quantum leap from vacation on the sunny coast of North Carolina, back to our home in Cincinnati where the thunderstorms welcomed us later this afternoon (i think they're kind of exciting and they didn't come until the kids, the pooch and I had fun at the park).
My morning started with me crawling out of bed at 8 (thank God the kids actually slept in!) pulled on some jean shorts and a t-shirt, "strapped" my beadhead back and out of my face, and hit the road to pick up my beloved Sirius black (our dog). I missed him on our vacation, especially when visiting the Worley's and their two awesome pooches; Sirius would have had fun with them.
I hated leaving him at the vet, in a "run" which is really a misuse of the word since it's just a doublesized cage! He can do anything BUT run in there! Since he was recovering from a little fracture on his left foot (not enough to have a splint) the vet said he'd be better off staying there than with our friends where he'd be living it up romping around with their Cairn Terrior, Rosie. He must have been so bored being cooped up a majority of his day, minus three "walks" since he managed to completely chew up ALL of his toys ( I'm serious; it was so bad, the staff had thrown away what little was left for his own safety) except his little red stuffed bone; unbelievable! Needless to say, we took a trip to the pet shop and replaced them with the identical ones he had before.
You should have seen Sirius' face when we got home; every ounce of his body was steadfastly alert and looking out the window. I opened the car door and he tore off, so excited to get in the house that he banged into the mudroom door and slipped a little on the steps (he's never done THAT before!). He made his rounds saying hello in his little doggie way to Paul, and the kiddos, and pissing the cats off by his mere presence. A bit later, he tore around the kitchen in living room, running laps of utter joy and excitement, checked out the backyard and dug up his bone which he had hid before vacation. Life is good when you're a furry member of the Armstrong family circus, I tell ya!
The kids are happy to be home, yet miss the ocean. They refrained from running laps and banging into doors; instead they swang on their swings, which they did miss. I guess Abigail particularly missed her swings since, when we were at the Worley's this past Saturday, she asked if they had any swings.
It's getting late now and I barely finished my nighttime chores and ironed my clothes for tomorrow's interview for a position as teacher's aide for the Developmental Kindergarten class, which would be half day during when Elliott is at school; I'll write more on that tomorrow. I hope I get the position and I know I will if it's meant to be =-)
