Ice Days and Jammies

It looks like everything has turned to crystal; like something from a fairytale. And although it is beautiful to look at, it's much different than getting a nice blanket of fluffy inviting snow. I have to force Sirius (our dog) out the door as I follow behind. He's much like a toddler and if he sees me go out, then he is not as afraid and will follow suit. I watch, chuckling aloud as he takes steps across the crusted snow and falls through; each step more labored because of the icy coating. I imagine he's thinking, "I have to pee, I have to pee; but where can I pee?!" Finally he finds a spot after searching throuroughly and retracing his steps.
Abigail, Elliott, and I have been dawning our jammies....cozy in our home, with the exception of me shovelling the driveway and deck yesterday. I haven't worn normal clothes for a couple of days now, but I did change into new jammies last night. It's too icy outside for the kids to play and poor Abigail has been sick with fever and an upper respiratory virus. I am thankful for her sake that school was cancelled again today so she didn't have to miss the Valentine party. She's worked so hard and made 21 valentines all together for friends and loved ones. All three of us spent a good part of yesterday morning finishing up the project that took us a couple of days; 38 valentines all together - homemade too.
Valentine's Day is more fun with kids; they bring out the fun in holidays that become more boring and complicated when only adults are involved. Today we can enjoy the pink sprinkled heart shaped rice krispy treats they helped me make yesterday. Abigail suggested that we wear our "red, white and pink" today even though we aren't going to school, and we will - just as soon as we emerge from our jammies =-)
Weather permitting, we will welcome Grandmommy and Granddaddy from Delaware, have some Chinese and Mexican food (i hope) , paul and I will go on a date while the kids get their Grandparents all to themselves, and we'll all get to celebrate my birthday by just having fun together. I guess I can have fun without my jammies on =-)
