CHAPTER 19: .07%
- What we Learned:
- Nathan finds out that Linderman wants to destroy New York to make people change. United through tragedy. Acceptable loss of .07% of the population.
- Matt escapes by listening to Bennett's thoughts -- and gets Ted as well; and Ted learns how to create electro-magnetic pulses (and further solidifies the notion and LOST and HEROES might be the same show).
- Peter and Sylar have a showdown, that was more lackluster than it could have been -- most likely just a "taste" of what is to come. Sylar ultimately "kills" Peter by shooting shards of glass throughout the room to hit an invisible Peter -- and it works. BANG, right in the brain (and down Peter goes).
- Claire gets a quick lesson in being a bitchy grandmother; as she's told in no uncertain terms that she has to leave for Paris to protect Nathan and his campaign for President. Not sure what Mrs. Petrilli's power is -- unless bitchiness is one. I believe that she has a direct connection with Linderman (perhaps she had an affair with him and Peter and Nathan are really his sons?)
- Claire then meets Nathan (her dad), and helps bring Peter back to life, and agrees to flee to Paris with Granny Bitchpants
- Jessica/Nicki are forced to bring Micah into the Linderman apocalypse game -- most likely infiltrating government security to launch missiles at New York
- Sylar find Issac. Issac passively concedes his death -- knowing it was going to happen anyway (and teasing Sylar by saying that he has sent out word on how to kill Sylar, which is pretty awesome). Sylar proceeds to cut his skull off, take his talent, and paint himself as Frankenstein in the future (?)
- Hiro and Ando are in future New York, after the destruction. Hiro wishes to stay to find out how it happened, in hopes to correct any mistakes and avoid the catastrophe. He believes he can find Issac and ask him; but instead he finds an empty apartment, minus newspaper clippings detailing historic events leading up to the and after the destruction; and then confronts his future self.
- NEXT WEEK Is entirely set in the future, I assume because Hiro and Ando are trying to piece together how it all happened. I wonder if next season will be set entirely on the future, or if it'll just be 2 groups fighting each other to stop the other. Regardless, looks to be intense and interesting.
- What we Don't Know
- What exactly is Linderman's power? What is his intent, what can he do, and what will he do?
- Who are the "others" that left and went astray, using their powers for themselves (it sounds to me that Linderman is using the third person, referring to himself as using the power for himself -- unless this is a total X-Men rip off and he wants the "special" people to be in charge of the world).
- Is there any point to Nikki/Jessica -- she's sorta strong and says cheesy things in a totally unbelievable way (I'm not even slightly afraid or intrigued by her). Whoopee.
- What is Grandma Petrelli's power? What's her affliction with this whole mess?
- What's up with future Hiro? Is he good, bad? Why is he confronting his past self? Is it really possible to "fight the future" (isn't that an X-Files movie title?)
