CHAPTER 1: FOUR MONTHS LATER (or Thanks For the Nissan Rogue Dad Infomercial)
- What We Learned
- Mohinder is in Cairo, Eygpt (4 months later) speaking to a few people about his discoveries. He's approached later by "My Name Is My Password" nerd, and asked to join another "outfit" that is set it help those with powers to use them to help mankind (does anyone else think this is just another version of X-Men?). We learn that Nerd-Man can change things to gold, and that Mohinder and Matt have used the "speaking" as a ploy to draw "the company" out.
- Claire and family has moved to -- Cliche-land? (4 months later) -- where she's chosen the very clever and oh-so-secret new identity of Claire; and nearly gets run over. She gets a new Nissan Rogue/b> (who brought you Heroes with limited commercial interruption, but with obvious product placement situations) Jonah/HRG is working at a paper company/copy center. And Mrs. HRG is still odd and looks paralyzed on one side -- as they all eat dinner together and act like life is peachy and normal. Claire is caught up with a boy (at school) who keeps asking if she's a robot or alien. Claire tries to make a stand for the underdog (by doing a retarded cheerleading move off a high platform; but instead decides not to draw too much attention to herself). We learn that Robot/Alien boy can fly ...
- Matt is using his mind-reading abilities to advance in the police force (4 months later). We find out that Matt is divorced and Molly (AKA Xavier) is living with him; and having bad dreams and using school as her place to draw them out. Matt reads her thoughts while she sleeps and hears a voice "I see you" (Sauron is back!).
- Hiro is in the late 1600's Japan (not exactly 4 months later), during an eclipse and nearly gets killed. He believes he's found Kensai, who turns out to be a white British man with no scruples. Hiro confronts him, tells him that he must save a village, marry the swordkeepers daughter and become a legend -- only he's let the village burn and infuriated the swordkeepers daughter. Hiro is confused (and its pretty obvious that Hiro himself must become Kensai).
- Ando is tagging along with Hiro's dad -- as they bought await Hiro to return (4 months later). Mr. Nakamura finds a ripped photo of himself inside his newspaper, bearing the red Helix -- which means he will die.
- Nathan survived the explosion in the sky somehow (4 months later) and has grown a very nice beard. He and his evil mother are brooding about Peter (is he dead, is he alive?). Mrs. (Angela) Petrelli also gets the red Helix on her picture -- I hope she dies.
- Somewhere in Honduras we meet Maya and Alejandro. They're running and they're wanted for murder. They've miraculously found Dr. Suresh's book and are on their way to find out how to help Maya (and her "power"). They're picked up by a truck, Maya is propositioned by dirty old men; Alejandro fights them; he's knocked out and left behind. When he catches up, everyone in the truck is dead -- bleeding out their eyes.
- Cork, Ireland (4 months later), some men are looking for "something" in a carrier crate -- only to find a lone man, hand-cuffed to the wall. It's Peter, he's disoriented (but alive) and still scowling.
- What We Don't Know
- Who is the mysterious person that has come to kill and leaves the red mark? Why does he want them dead?
- What happened to ? Did he vanish? What is his power?
- What is Angela Petrelli's power?
- Who is "seeing" Molly? Is he the same guy that is leaving the red mark?
- What can do -- with the bleeding eyes?
- How did Peter survive (I'd assume its because of his Claire properties) and where has he been (and why does he have the "mark" as a necklace? Was it on discount at Target? How can I get one?)

I'm not one to go to all the discussion sites and try to figure out exactly what's happening, but have a few rudimentary guesses.
1. The one who kills Hiro's dad is Nathan. He wasn't there after the fall because he flew away. He's sick of all the manipulation and he's dead serious about destroying this collective of heroes who are trying to control the flow of events. I don't know if he leaves the red mark. Maybe he's working with someone else. Or maybe not. Maybe it's someone new we haven't met yet.
2. Maya is el (la?) chupacabra. She sucks the life out of people when she gets cornered. Problem is, she can't control it once the transformation takes place.

I like that theory about Nathan -- makes sense why he bumped into Ando then (in that town square) -- he put the mark in the newspaper.

yeah, that IS a good theory. the bumping into Ando was too obvious not be used down the road.

I thought the Hiro storyline was very cheesy. The British guy in Japan and time travel. It felt like Brisco County Jr. to me. The best part of Heroes was the juxtaposition of normal and special people. When everyone has powers or the plot goes into another world it feels even more unbelievable and harder to relate.

I've just seen it and I can agree, the opening epizode was very well made, and I personally think that Heros will be my most favourite TV Show this Fall...

Anyone else vaguely annoyed by Peter Petrelli's storyline being a total rehash of last season? I'm sure it will mature as the season goes on but he's basically got that same confused look of "what's going on?! How is this happening?" - more of the same in Episode 2.
