Recap: LOST (S5,E7)

Suppose that throughout history, for all of time, there are individuals who continually live, eternally, to find themselves in the past to do things in the future which happen again and again and again throughout time -- dejavu, reincarnation, chance, coincidence, miracles -- a spiraling story of predetermined people creating the history of mankind. Or maybe its just about 2 men and their egos, and a nerdy scientist who loves a girl and the collateral damage they engulf in their pursuits. This is the beauty of LOST.
The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham
I missed the first 10 minutes of so of this episode and came in right aorund when John ended up at the exit in Tunisia. From what Sonya pieced together I think I understand what happened in the beginning. So, if you haven't watched; be warned as always -- SPOILERS ahead.
What We Learned
- Apparently the other passengers on the Flight 316 to Guam did end up on the island
- John Locke has been resurrected.
- Upon leaving the island John ends up at the "exit", the same deserted location in Tunisia that Ben found himself. While having his broken leg reset John is visted by Charles Widmore.
- Widmore remembers Locke visiting the camp back when Charles was a 17 year old solider. Says something to the effect that John must be back on the island to preven the great war. He also tells John that Ben cannot be trusted.
- Joseph Matthew Abaddon is a person who gets people to where they're supposed to be - and in this case, to get John and everyone else who left, back to the island.
- John has no luck getting anyone interested in coming back to the island.
- While John is visiting the grave of his long lost love Helen, Joseph is killed (by Ben), and John attempts to escape ending in a great car crash. Providently he ends up in the hospital where Jack is a doctor.
- Jack is unconvinced of John's importance; until Locke mentions "Your dad says hello" ...
- John attempts to hang himsef in an act of despair.
- Never. Ever. Trust. Benjamin Linus. No sooner does Ben convince Ben not to hang himself, does he strangle John. Inriguingly Ben seemed to change heart after Locke told him that Jin was alive ... hmmm
- Ben is with the new survivors of Flight 316, where John finds him sleeping on a cot -- of death!
What We Don't Know
- What is it about Jin surviving makes Ben so baffled, and seemingly pissed off?
- Who can be trust -- honestly? I stil think Ben is jealous of John and wants to be the one to bring eveyrone back and lead everyone against ... against something; but what? Why does Ben hate Charles Widmore? Widmore was a military soldier, working with Richard. Is it Dharma? Is it something else?
- What's the deal with Richard? Why doesn't he age? Is it because he's never left? Or is he God?
- If Ben and Locke and everyone else returned to a time in the past (which I think they did, right? I mean the VW Van and Jin's uniform seem to indicate that to me), wouldn't that mean that Ben is there as a young man?
- Why didn't Ben "disappear" with Hurley, Sayid, Kate and Jack?
- What side is Eloise on?
- Why would Hurley, Sayid, Jack and Kate "disappear" while everyone else did not? Are they in a different time?
- John visit Walt, but why isn't Walt back? And what is special about Walt -- I mean he appeared to people, speaking backwards and wet! And then he's having dreams about John being surrounded by people who wanted to hurt him?
- Why is John so special? Because he resurrected? Is that what happened with Christian Shepard? Was he on the island decades ago, left; and when he came back in a coffin raised back to life?
- Are those other survivors of Flight 316 really there "accidentally"? Or are they there supposefully, appointed by Ben, to lead a war again John?
These revelations are coming quickly, yet propelling us into some new and crazy realm. Again, the time travel thing just leads to some many possibilities and questions it makes the head explode (ever so slightly). Did Charles picked John to get on the island the first time because he knew John visited him as a young man, was he just making an endless loop of the inevitable? Ouch, there it goes -- aneurism.
What do you think you think?

I think it's Matthew Abaddon, not Joseph.

You're totally right; ugh. Lack of sleep leads to lack of thinking. I might as well call him Phillip Boyles.

Yeah, or Cedric Daniels, or Desmond Mobay/Johnny Basil.
Wow, Lance Reddick has done LOTS of work.
