Avoid all entanglements

by Paul (1 Comments) StumbleUpon

Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in a casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket -- safe, dark, motionless, airless -- it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. The alternative to tragedy, or at least to the risk of tragedy, is damnation.

Life's been good to me so far

by Paul (3 Comments) StumbleUpon

We had a great weekend in Tennessee this following weekend ... friends, food, great, go-karts (getting kicked out of said go-karts) and just general hanging out with 40 or so of our fellow church friends (and their kids). One thing I did not expect was the roller coaster sized driveway we had to scale to get to our cabin/lodge. We wagered that it had to be at least 25-30% incline.

When we arrived it was wet, and were taken surprised by the steep incline; and processed to peel out and head backwards. The kids freaked out ... started screaming and crying and Elliott uttered these words (God's honest truth):

Goodbye world! I've had a full life!

Not all those who wander are lost

by Paul (0 Comments) StumbleUpon

All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light from the shadows shall spring; renenwed shall be blade that was broken, the crownless again shall be king.

Quote Challenge

Man, I'm so tired; I'm gonna have to take off my underwear.
Elliott Armstrong (age 6)

Your assignment: work that quote into any every day situation -- preferably with strangers; in public (and said in the same manner -- while stretching his arms out in an exhausted tone).

I don't piss without getting paid

I identify with this rant so very much, its funny and sad all at the same time. Just substitute "writer" with "designer" or "photographer" and I've been in the exact same situation a few times (and have had a few debates with clients and friends who want the "work for free"). Ugh. Anyway, watch this and welcome to my little corner of the world:

Creative Battlefield

by Paul (0 Comments) StumbleUpon

Millions of men have lived to fight, build palaces and boundaries, shape destinies and societies; but the compelling force of all times has been the force of originality and creation profoundly affecting the roots of human spirit.
